Rehnquist was a Racist Part II

First, I'd like to take something out of this debate. My point in the original comment was that Rehnquist (may he rest in peace), was a bigot. My point was that he did not like non-WASP's. Somehow, this debate got flipped into the abortion debate, and my point got lost. And I blame myself. I allowed myself to become engaged in the debate that I cannot win.
Once and for all, let me make my point clear on the abortion deal. I believe in a woman's unrestricted right to chose matters of sexual reproduction. Yet, I don't hope to change your mind, because I know I won't. I respect your opinion (except for the fact that it is paternalistic) as I am sure that you respect my opinion (except for the fact that you may feel that I am advocating baby killing.) We will never change. We represent the schism in our country, and have to accept that.
Back on the Chief, however, you say that to prove he was a bigot, the onus (a word I have never used, by the way) is on me to prove that Rehnquist was conveniently a "states rights" person.
I disagree. As I said before, constitutional doctrines are not absolutes. They are the paintbrush with which the Rehnquist painted his racist masterpieces. I mean this dude was more prolific than Picasso.
Hmmmm. I like that analogy. A guy who used color over multiple decades to give the world beauty, and a guy who used color over multiple decades to perpetuate hate.
Rehnquist was a racist because he told racist jokes. He was a racist because he owned property that excluded "members of the Hebrew race." He was a racist because he argued that black children in Louisiana and brown children in Los Angeles were getting an "equal" education, even though the brown kids didn"t have so much as textbooks. He was a racist because he single-handedly whittled the Bill of Rights into a toothpick and because he did everything he could to speed up executions, knowing full-well that People of Color are the ones that suffer.
He was a racist because this "great legal scholar" used the law to dissuade People of Color from voting. Oh, and he was a racist when he upheld the systematic disenfranchising of voters of color in the 2000 presidential election. He was a racist when, in response to the "taking" of Native American land, he said "We conquered them, why should we pay for their land?." (Note: The takings clause is as firmly rooted a constitutional protection as there is, but I guess not if you are Native American.) He was a racist because he didn't hire colored folk. (Between 1986 and 2001, 81 out of 82 clerks were white. For the Dress-Up-Ken Rehnquist Clerk doll, click here.)
I think he is a racist because of the following quote of his: "I realize that it is an unpopular and unhumanitarian position for which I have been excoriated by liberal colleagues, but I think Plessy v Ferguson was right and should be reaffirmed." Oh, and because he said "it's about time the Supreme Court faced the fact that the white people of the South don't like the colored people." (cite)
Oh..... and by the way, I close with another quote from the Chief to show that he raped the Constitution to achieve his racist ends. In honoring confederate-sympathizer Chief Justice Roger Taney, Rehnquist said: "His willingness to find in the Constitution of the United States the necessary authority for states to solve their own problems was a welcome addition to the nationalist jurisprudence of the [John] Marshall court.''
Like I said: If you are looking for a constitutional backing for racism, you can surely find it. How you like them apples, H.P.?

Oh and H.P.: As for your comment that liberals are racists too, I must say that I am a tad dissapointed in you. Your arguments are always well thought-out and documented. Now, you expect me to believe that the Clintons are racists, based on an article from Reinhold Aman who refers to Senator Clinton as "The Foulmouthed First Bitch"? Mr. Aman appears to be Nucking Futs, at least based on his website, which graphically advocates urinating upon judges and lawyers.
As for Reid's comments, come on now, H.P.! He said that Thomas lacks the skills to be a Supreme Court justice. By the way, Thomas served less than two years on the bench before becoming Supreme Court justice. I happen to think that our president is a moron. Does that make me anti-white?
Oh, and if you still want to battle with Nimiwey or El Profe, you have the full use of these pages.
